Dealing with Setbacks for Teenagers and Teens.

This is my favorite Section, because I believe it is the most important.  I don't like the word fail, because failure IS quitting, but kids have a tendency to quit even if its a setback.  My philosophy is every threat is an opportunity.  I explain to my audience that I usually have four or five setbacks before I get a hit.  In fact, I am prepared because I not only expect them, but I embrace them, because this is how I LEARN.  It's part of the PMA to set up a belief system that prepares you for reality.  When we cover the "taking risks' section" we embrace one of my favorite quotes: "If you always do what you've always done... then you'll always get what you've always got."

All success comes with practice and dealing with setbacks employs this to the max, simply because we do more of it.  Personal growth is a process of experimentation, a series of trials, errors, and occasional victories.  The setbacks are as much a part of the process as the experiments that work.
